Laughter tops off AGM first day in Ahousaht

Ahousaht

After an intense first day of band business at their annual general meeting Nov. 2 to 4, the people of Ahousaht took a much-needed comedy break.

On Monday evening the people gathered to watch a pair of first nations comedians poke fun at pretty much everything.

The event started with a game of rock/paper/scissors led by Ahousaht Band Administrator Rob Bullock, which involved the entire audience.

Everyone was paired off and played elimination rounds of the game of chance until only two were remaining. In a best of three challenge, Mena Duncan had the crowd roaring with laughter when she pulled a ‘gun’ instead of rock/paper/scissors on her opponent, Paul Robinson.

Duncan eventually won the best of three, becoming the reigning Ahousaht rock/paper/scissor champion.

For the next two hours the crowd laughed at and with comedians Will Spotted Bear and Chad Charlie. Spotted Bear is Lakota, from Pittsburg, Pa.

Ahousaht’s own Chad Charlie travelled in from his other home in Seattle, WA. The comedic pair was a hit and had some people buckled over in laughter.
