Family seeks information in the death of Joshua Ryan Billy

Campbell River

The sister of a young man found dead outside a Campbell River residence earlier this autumn is hoping someone will come forward with information that will help solve the crime.

On Oct. 18, 2014, Campbell River RCMP responded to a 9-1-1 call and found Joshua Ryan Billy lying outside a residence on Alpine Street.

The 37-year-old father of six was deceased; his death ruled suspicious. The family confirmed that Billy had been beaten.

RCMP Sgt. Troy Beauregard would not comment on the case only saying it is an active investigation being handled by the major crimes unit.

Petrina Hildebrand is the younger sister of Joshua Billy. She is heartbroken over her loss and is doing all she can to keep the investigation going.

“He was really committed to his children and if there was one thing he did real well in his life, it was being a good father,” said Hildebrand.

“My brother was a good man,” she said, adding he didn’t deserve this.

Hildebrand said her family wants justice and is making a plea to the public to come forward if they have any information that would solve this crime.

“We want a safe, violence-free community for everybody; this is why we want to keep a light shining on this case,” Hildebrand said.

The family has set up a Facebook page called Justice for Joshua Billy. On that page they ask people to help Joshua by giving him a voice.

They also ask people to stand together against violence.
